from Patrick Rivard, Katie’s husband (2016):

Katie lived an amazing, artful life filled with family, her passion for fiber arts, early childhood education, dog training and compassion. Her sons, Devon and Tim, and granddaughter Cohen were always close to her heart and home. Her sweetheart Patrick was and is her sun and stars and she remains his soul mate and inspiration.

Katie never stopped being an artist, from the way she always decided how she wanted to look to the total absorption of creating, from tie dying, batik, goddess dolls and dancing figures to drawing, sewing & designing clothing and hats. Many was the time I'd find her so engrossed in her work that she had not eaten or noticed the hours fly by, in her bliss.

Katie endured over eight and a half years of surgeries, treatments and complications from HPV cervical cancer and breast cancer with inspiring resilience and strength. She was able to face her death her own way at home with Patrick, Devon, Tim and her brother, Michael Sullivan, holding her. I will live on with her incredible spirit me guiding me always toward the light!

Best wishes to all the Murray High School class of 1966!

Peace,

Patrick
