from Carolyn’s obituary:

Carolyn Elaine Hannemann was born Feb 4, 1949 in Finschaffen, Papua New Guinea, the daughter of a Lutheran missionary, Herbert R. Hannemann, and his wife Olinda Martin. Carolyn spent her summers with her parents in the highlands of New Guinea among the native people, and like other mission children she attended boarding school in Australia. The family later returned to the U.S. where she completed high school in St. Paul, MN.

Following graduation Carolyn attended Wartburg College in Waverly, IA, where she decided to study pharmacy at Iowa State University in Ames, IA. In 1968, Carolyn then transferred to the College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois medical Center in Chicago IL to complete her degree. While in Chicago, Carolyn met her future husband Robert (Bob) Randall. They were married in 1972 and lived in Chicago until 1976 when they moved to Crystal Lake, IL.

Carolyn pursued a career in hospital pharmacy at Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago and Northern Illinois Medical Center in Woodstock, IL. Carolyn and Bob started their family in 1982 when their first child Bradley Thomas Randall was born, followed by daughter Kathleen Rose Randall in 1983.

In 1986, the Randall family moved to Lake Zurich, IL where they lived for the next 12 years. When Bob retired in 1998, the family moved to Mountain Grove, MO.

Carolyn continued her career as a pharmacist at Wal-mart in Mountain Grove, MO and subsequently Ava Drug in Ava, MO. During this time in Missouri, Carolyn became an accomplished quilter with the Calico Cabin Sew-ciety in West Plains, MO. She donated hundreds of her quilts to charitable organizations including Afghans for Angels and the Wright County Children's Home.

On September 6, 2014, after a week-long illness, Carolyn passed away at home. She is survived by her beloved husband Bob Randall and children Bradley and Kathleen Randall; brother Rev. Robert Hannemann; nephews Alan and Greg Hannemann and their families.

Carolyn always looked for the best in people, and she usually found it. She leaves behind dozens of friends who loved Carolyn for her kindness, patience and generosity. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
